Link Development
Category: Linking Strategies
Link development is a crucial and essential aspect of any search engine optimisation (SEO) campaign. In order to maintain visibility in search engines, a link development campaign should be established.
Search engine spiders continuously crawl the web for fresh content following links to other websites. The more links search engines find pointing to a website then the more likely it will gain a favourable position in search results.
Link development should always be considered as a fundamental part of any marketing campaign. Without a link campaign running, it can often be difficult for a website to maintain search engine traffic over a long period of time.
Effective link development is never an easy task as it takes time to find, gain and establish quality links.
When a campaign is carried out correctly, it can lead to increasing a website’s overall visibility in search results and also generate free traffic on a regular and consistent basis.
Links from similar themed sites with unique content are considered to be more important and beneficial by search engines than from a general links page that are found on many websites.
Whilst vast amounts of links can easily be developed, it is essential they are from good quality and reputable sites.

In my opinion, there is nothing simple about links these days. Everything is so intricate. If you want to publicize a website, you can’t overlook a thing.

Now, are you talking about links that are embedded in the text of the regular pages, or is this referring to a website’s page dedicated to links? How are the links ‘developed’ or found, and are they complimentary to my site? How can I be sure they won’t compete?

When I built my first blog, I knew nothing about link development , but by the time I created my 3rd , I had learned how google pr works and what they consider good links and bad links. So I started giving a lot of links to my blog with my main keyword in the anchor text. The result wasn’t nice. Although the site is still in google’s results , my SERP dropped dramatically. It’s only later that I learned that it’s not just getting links to point back to the site that matters, what’s even more important is that the process should be natural. If google suspects your site of throwing in a lot of backlinks too fast, then that could be detrimental to the search traffic the site gets. It fascinates me that there is no end to learning and improving the process of link building.
